Fantastic Results at the Harrogate Competition
This weekend, our Ascend Taekwondo team proudly attended the Harrogate competition, and what an incredible event it turned out to be.
Nine of our students took part, each showing great determination, focus, and team spirit throughout the day. We’re delighted to share that every student achieved a medal in each of their categories, which is a truly outstanding accomplishment.
Their performances were absolutely fantastic, with every individual giving their best and representing our club with pride. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, we were also thrilled to walk away with a third-place team trophy.
This achievement reflects not only their skill, but also their confidence, perseverance, and support for one another. We couldn’t be prouder of the entire team.
A huge well done to all involved — a brilliant weekend and a well-deserved success!

🥋 Ascend Taekwondo at Competition Weekend! 🥋
What a fantastic day for Team Ascend at a friendly local competition!
We had 3 first-time fighters step onto the mats for their very first sparring competition, and they all performed exceptionally well. It takes a lot of courage to compete for the first time, and every one of them showed great determination, confidence, and sportsmanship throughout the day.Alongside the sparring, we had 9 students competing in Poomsae, with 3 of those being first-time competitors. Everyone represented the club brilliantly and demonstrated the hard work they've been putting into training.
One of the nicest aspects of this competition was that students were able to choose the pattern they wanted to perform. This was a refreshing change from the usual format and gave competitors the opportunity to showcase the patterns they feel most confident and proud of.Most importantly, it was a lovely, relaxed competition that gave our students valuable experience, helped build confidence, and allowed everyone to enjoy the day with teammates and families.
A huge congratulations to all of our competitors—we are incredibly proud of you all! 👏🥋🏅
🥋 What a weekend for Ascend Taekwondo!
BLACK BELT GRADING
I honestly don't even know where to start.
This weekend we had four students attend the National Dan Grading, and I'm incredibly proud to say that all four of them passed! 👏🔥
Then today, our oldest student stepped up for his Black Belt grading and also passed, earning his Black Belt. What a way to finish the weekend.
As a coach, these are the moments that make all the hard work worth it. Watching students come in with little confidence, seeing them struggle through techniques, push through tough sessions, and then grow into strong, disciplined martial artists is something special.
A Black Belt isn't something that's just handed out. It's earned through years of commitment, hard work, resilience and showing up even when you don't feel like it. Every one of these students has put the work in and fully deserves this achievement.
I'm genuinely so proud of every single one of them. Not just for passing, but for the people they're becoming along the way. Seeing them grow in confidence, maturity and ability year after year is one of the best parts of what I do.
Congratulations to our newest Black Belts. Enjoy the moment, you've earned it. But remember, this isn't the end of the journey—it's the start of a new chapter.
From strength to strength. 👊🥋
